What is a Frenectomy?

Some children and adults require a frenectomy, also known as "tongue-tie surgery", if the frenulum attached under their tongue causes issues when speaking, eating, moving the tongue, or even breathing while awake or sleeping. Some individuals may also experience gum recession. A frenectomy involves having a dentist cut the frenulum/"tongue-tie" and freeing the tongue.

Benefits of a Frenectomy

There are many benefits to getting a frenectomy if you suffer from having a tongue-tie, including:

  • Improved speech
  • Improved sleep
  • Reduced pain or discomfort
  • Reduced risk of tooth decay/cavities and gum disease
  • Improved smile appearance - some tongue-ties cause gaps, which may be unwanted
  • Increased bite function
  • Improved swallowing

If your child has a tongue-tie/frenulum that needs to be removed, please call our office at (662) 892-3633 to schedule a consultation. We provide comfortable frenectomy services in Olive Branch, Mississippi to patients of all ages.
